There are different types of E-commerce. This blog will talk about those types with examples.



Types of E-commerce:

Business to Consumer (B2C)

Business to Business   (B2B)

Consumer to Consumer (C2C)

Government to Citizen  (G2C)

Mobile Commerce   (m-commerce)


Business to Consumer (B2C):

-It means when businesses sell to the public. (Manzoor, 2010). 

-It is the second largest and earliest form of e-commerce. (Manzoor, 2010).

-Decreases transaction cost. (Manzoor, 2010).

-Saves people from spending huge amounts of money to build a company. (Manzoor, 2010).

Example of B2C:
-Amazon



Business to Business (B2B):

-Involves companies doing business with each other. (Manzoor, 2010).

-Prices are negotiated according to the number of supplies provided. (Manzoor, 2010).

-Considered the largest type of e-commerce. (Manzoor, 2010).

-Mostly consist of: E-infrastructure and E-markets. (Manzoor, 2010).

Example of B2B:
-Cisco



Consumer to Consume (C2C):

-Include commerce between consumers. (Manzoor, 2010).

-Consumers interact with each others online. (Manzoor, 2010).

-This type involves: a consumer acting as a seller, a consumer acting as a buyer and a platform provider. (Manzoor, 2010).

-Consumers use their e-mail, personal website, auction site, and site providing advertisement services. (Manzoor, 2010).

Example of C2C: 
-E-bay




Government to Citizen (G2C):

-This type include information publicizing to the public. (Manzoor, 2010).

-Includes basic citizen services such as: license renewal, ordering certificates (birth, marriage, death) and taxes. (Manzoor, 2010).

-Includes citizen assistance such as: education, health care, hospital information, libraries and many more. (Manzoor, 2010).

Example of G2C:
-UK government website




Mobile Commerce (m-commerce):

-Buying and selling products and services using computer network. (Stafford, Gillenson, 2003.)

-Provides better support and promotion. (Stafford, Gillenson, 2003.)

-It can be used as support mechanism. (Stafford, Gillenson, 2003.)

-It is data-driven. (Stafford, Gillenson, 2003.)
