MS Excel

In this blog I will be talking about my progress in creating a product table for my website. I will also be talking about the formulas I have used to complete the table. First, I used (*) to calculate the total cost. I multiplied the 'unit price' with the 'stock quantity'. To do it you need to put an '=' sign first. Then, choose the correct columns. Lastly, click enter and the equation will be solved. The picture above shows the formula I have used. After I wrote the formula I just clicked enter and it solved it for me.  Instead of writing the formula in each column, you can place the arrow on the corner of the column. After that, the arrow will turn into a plus sign. Then, you drag mouse downwards and Excel will automatically solve the rest. Lastly, this is what it looks like. I used the same formula for the total sale. The picture below is what my table looks like. I have also added charts to complete it.

Create an ERD for your website database. Identify the entities, attributes, relationships and cardinalities

Image
Entities: -Customers -Product -Transaction Attributes: -Email -Address -Username -Password -First name -Last name -Colour -Size -Price -Description -Amount -Payment type -Payment ID Relationships: -Buys -Goes through Cardinalities: -one to many (1:M) -many to many (M:M) -one to one (1:1)

What is an ERD. Define the RED related terms, including entities, attributes, cardinalities and relationships

Image
Entity-Relationship Diagram (ERD): An ERD is a diagram that allows you to notice the entities and how they interconnect with each other. An ERD also has specific shapes, symbols, and arrows to describe the diagram. They are used to understand how a database system is going to be  structured. RED related terms: -Entities: They are considered as objects that can store data about it. In other words, they represent nouns. Also, they are placed into a rectangular on the ERD. There are also weak entities and strong entities. -Attributes: They are used to explain an entity. They can be described using an oval shape in an ERD. In addition, there are multiple types of attributes, such as simple, composite, and derived.  Attributes can involve single values or multi values. -Relationships: They explains how two entities are related to each other. They can be considered a verbs to explain the relationship better. Furthermore, there a types of relationships, such as one to one, ...

Write about your understanding of database. Explore the database advantages and write about database concepts such as primary and foreign keys

Image
Database: A database is a place where collections of information that can stored and accessed by users. Furthermore, it can be accessed by many users. Moreover, it can be spread out to many locations (Beri, et al, 1989). What is a Database from my understanding: A database is a place where information is stored. Furthermore, it can control who accesses and edits the data. In other words, it is like a library for data. Advantages of Database: Increases the amount of users that can access the data. Boosting data security. Helps organisation to spot errors and bugs. Controls who can access and store that data. Helps in decreasing data redundancy. Structures the data Database Concepts: -Primary key: is a key that contains a value. In addition, value must be the same and unique across the table. Beside that, this key can placed in multiple columns in a table  (Sir, et al, 2015). -Foreign key: this key is used to connect the tables. Furthermore, the values of should match of thos...

Using MS Excel, create a customer database with at least 10 entries, with screenshot to document and show your progress

Image
Hello, in this blog I will be documenting my progress on creating a customer database. Furthermore, I have used MS Excel to create it. Adding to that, MS Excel is famous for creating wonderful and organised databases and having all the needed tools to create it. My Progress: 1- I started by writing the title of the database. All I had to do is click on one of the cells and start typing. 2- I changed the colour of the text to red.   To do that I clicked on 'Home'. Then I went to the 'Font' section. After that I clicked on the letter 'A' that says font colour when you place the arrow of your mouse on top of it. 3- I then wrote the headers of each category. I also made the text bolder. 4-After that I started inserting all the information that was needed. 5- Finally, I added borders around it to make it look better. And that is the final look.

Research about SDLC, discussing its methodology, benefits and key stages, Comment on activities you have conducted during your website development the correlate with the stages of SDLC

Image
Software Development Lifecycle:  SDLC is used to create and build software. SDLC, also known as software development lifecycle, is a cycle involving several phases. It can be divided into six stages: planning, defining, designing, development, integration or testing, and installation and acceptance (Ragunath, et al, 2010). Methodology of SDL: According to Scroggins (2014, pp. 21-22) the  methodology of SDLC is cyclical. In other words, the design of the software can be changed during any phase. For this reason, SDLC is considered flexible. Moreover, understanding the type of methodology is important since the process towards each phase can differ. Benefits of SDLC: Some of the benefits of SDLC are creating the structure of the software and saving time. In addition, it can be helpful when a staff member quits. Moreover, it brings up questions and errors that might occur later. Lastly, it allows the project to go through the time needed to be perfect. (Azat, 2022) Key sta...

Analyse and compare different examples of product pages

Image
Introduction: In this blog I will be analysing and comparing different product pages from websites. I have also chosen websites that sell clothes since I am creating a similar website.    White Fox boutique: This product page is quite simple. Both the description and image are available and in good quality. And the description is short and simple. Also, you can easily navigate your way through the pages. Furthermore, this website has different categories. In addition, you can see the prices of the products and the different colours that are available. Overall, this is a good product page and very straightforward. ZARA: Although Zara's homepage appears attractive, many people complained that shopping and browsing the website were difficult. First of all, the size of the description is small. Furthermore, it can be a bit challenging to find what you are looking for. Also, it seems to appear that they are cramming several product images in one row. On the other hand, the colours ...
